What is a Facial?

Facials are skincare treatments performed by licensed aesthetician that typically involve a variety of skin treatments aimed at improving the overall health and appearance of the skin on the face.

During a facial, the aesthetician may cleanse, exfoliate, extract impurities, and apply masks or serums to address specific skin concerns such as acne, dryness, aging, or hyperpigmentation. Facials can also include facial massage, steam, and other techniques to promote relaxation and improve circulation.

At Crystalline Clinic our facials are often tailored to individual skin types and concerns, and they can help to hydrate, rejuvenate, and revitalize the skin. Regular facials can help maintain healthy skin, address specific skin issues, and provide a relaxing and pampering experience.

  • ENERGY
GREEN PEEL® EnergyThe vitality and regeneration kick without peeling effectThis treatment with natural herbs noticeably provides energy. It stimulates blood circulation and metabolism and thus leads to a natural improvement of the skin texture without any peeling effect. GREEN PEEL® Energy provides your skin with the natural energy it needs to renew the cells. It helps to reduce age-related skin appearances as well as impurities, scarring and pigment disorders. The treatment visibly improves the skin’s appearance and harmonizes its surface. It works ideally as repeated, intensive salon treatment several times a year.
  • CLASSIC
GREEN PEEL® ClassicRegeneration and renewal with peeling effectThis is the “classic” among the GREEN PEEL® peeling treatments. After a thorough evaluation, the Herbal Peeling mixture is intensively massaged into the skin. Blood circulation is increased, the supply of oxygen and nutrition is improved and skin renewal is stimulated. This effect is stopped after two to five days depending on the skin texture with a more or less strong peeling process of the skin. During this time, the skin needs to be treated at home with special Dr. med. Schrammek skin care products. To conclude the GREEN PEEL® Herbal Peeling Treatment Classic, the aesthetician performs a beauty finishing treatment after five days and nourishes the now particularly receptive skin with valuable ingredients.GREEN PEEL® ClassicThe success of the original GREEN PEEL® Herbal Peeling Treatment Classic for decades speaks for itself. It is the solution for various skin problems in the face and on the body. These include:Large-pored, seborrheic skinImpure skin, sebum cystsScarsSkin prone to premature formation of wrinkles with sagging face contoursSun damaged skinAnti-Aging prophylaxisSome forms of hyperpigmentationsStretch marks (striae)Sagging skin on the body (abdominal wall, upper arms, thighs)

Facials FAQs

What types of facials do you offer at Crystalline Clinic?

We offer a range of professional facial treatments tailored to different skin concerns, including deep cleansing, brightening, hydrating, anti-ageing, and acne-targeting facials. Each is adapted to your skin type and goals during a thorough pre-treatment consultation. Unlike high-street facials, all treatments use medical-grade products selected for genuine clinical efficacy.

How often should I get a professional facial?

For most skin types, a professional facial every 4–6 weeks aligns with your skin’s natural cell renewal cycle. This frequency allows for consistent maintenance and progressive improvement. Those with specific concerns such as acne, hyperpigmentation, or dehydration may benefit from more frequent initial sessions, followed by monthly maintenance.

Are professional facials actually worth it compared to at-home skincare?

Yes — for several reasons. Professional treatments use higher concentrations of active ingredients that aren’t available over the counter, combined with techniques like extractions, advanced exfoliation, and electrotherapy that simply can’t be replicated at home. A skilled aesthetician can also identify skin concerns early and tailor each session to what your skin actually needs, not what the marketing of a product tells you.

Will a facial help with blackheads and congested skin?

Yes, professional facials are highly effective for congestion. A deep cleanse, steam, and careful manual or vacuum extractions can clear blackheads and sebaceous filaments that home skincare cannot reach. Following treatment, we’ll recommend a home routine to slow the rate of congestion returning.

Is a facial painful?

The treatment itself is largely relaxing and comfortable. Extractions can involve a brief moment of pressure or discomfort, particularly if pores are deeply congested, but this is temporary. We always work to your comfort level and can skip or modify any step that doesn’t suit you.

How long does a professional facial take?

Our facial treatments typically take between 45 and 90 minutes depending on the type of facial and the number of steps involved. We allow adequate time for consultation, treatment, and aftercare advice — nothing is rushed.

Can a facial help with anti-ageing?

Yes. Anti-ageing facials stimulate circulation, encourage cell turnover, and deliver targeted actives such as peptides, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, and retinoids directly into the skin. Over a course of treatments, clients notice improved firmness, reduced fine lines, and a more youthful overall complexion. Combining facials with skin boosters or PRP enhances these effects further.

What is the downtime after a professional facial?

Most facials have minimal to no downtime. Your skin may appear slightly flushed for a few hours, particularly after extractions or active exfoliation. Deeper resurfacing facials may cause mild peeling or sensitivity for 2–3 days. We’ll always advise you on what to expect based on the specific treatment performed.

Can I have a facial if I have sensitive skin or rosacea?

Yes, with the right approach. We offer gentle, calming facials specifically formulated for reactive and sensitive skin, avoiding any ingredients or techniques that could trigger a flare. For rosacea clients, we focus on reducing inflammation, strengthening the skin barrier, and improving overall skin resilience. Always inform us of your condition at consultation.

Should I get a facial before or after injectables?

We recommend having a facial before any injectable treatments rather than after. Allow at least 2 weeks between injectables and a facial to avoid putting pressure on recently injected areas. Facials are ideal for preparing skin before a big event or injectable appointment, as they enhance skin quality and product absorption.

What aftercare should I follow after my facial?

Avoid touching your face, applying makeup for 12 hours, heavy exercise, and hot environments for at least 24 hours. Use SPF 30 or higher the following morning and keep skin well hydrated. Avoid AHAs, BHAs, and retinol for 48 hours unless otherwise advised. We’ll send you home with specific aftercare instructions tailored to your treatment.

Can I wear makeup to my facial appointment?

Yes — we’ll remove it thoroughly as part of the cleansing stage. That said, arriving with clean skin allows us to spend more time on your actual treatment rather than cleansing. Do let us know what products you’ve been using so we can factor them into your skin assessment.

Will a facial make my skin purge or break out?

Some clients experience a minor temporary purge after a deep cleansing facial, particularly if skin has significant congestion. This is a normal part of the skin clearing process and typically resolves within a week. It’s not the same as an allergic reaction. We’ll advise you on what to expect based on your skin’s starting condition.

What is the difference between a basic facial and a medical-grade facial?

A basic beauty facial typically uses cosmetic-grade products at low concentrations and focuses primarily on relaxation. A medical-grade facial uses clinically formulated products at therapeutic strengths, often with advanced technologies such as microcurrent, ultrasound, or LED light therapy. The results are significantly more pronounced and longer-lasting.

Can a facial help with pigmentation and dark spots?

Absolutely. Brightening facials that incorporate vitamin C, kojic acid, niacinamide, tranexamic acid, or superficial chemical exfoliation are highly effective at reducing hyperpigmentation over a course of treatments. For more stubborn pigmentation, we may recommend combining facials with professional skin peels or a targeted treatment plan.
